Our Family Law services.
Divorce - We understand that relationship breakdown is seldom easy. We represent clients on all aspects of divorce. Our clientele ranges from those with very few assets to those with complex finances. Our aim is to provide you with the best legal advice and assistance as you to settle the issues that may arise as speedily and fairly as possible.
Separation - Without making a Separation Agreement you will find it extremely difficult to move on and start planning your future. And if you eventually divorce, and delay in formally defining a period of separation may also result in delayed divorce proceedings. The main advantage over the Separation Agreement or Deed is that the court is involved and so can sort out.
Judicial Separation - Judicial Separation is a means by which married couples can formalise their separation without having to divorce. Many people pursue a Judicial Separation rather than a divorce because of their religious beliefs or if they have been married for less than 12 months or when in certain circumstances it would be financially better for the parties to remain married.
Annulment of Marriage - We have experience of making such applications to the courts.
Civil Partnership - We can provide advice to those intending to register a same-sex partnership.
Islamic Law - We specialise in all aspects of Islamic law and provide expert opinions to other solicitors
Residence Order - A residence order establishes with whom a child will live. This can be a most distressing area for all parties and our experience and practical assistance is invaluable in ensuring appropriate residence and contact rights are granted whilst maintaining the best interests of the child/children.
Parental Responsibility - A child born to unmarried parents, parental responsibility for the child rests solely with the mother. Parental responsibility includes the power to make decisions relating to the childs health, education, residence and religion, as well as the day-to-day caring for the child. Many unmarried parents living together will be happy to acknowledge the shared responsibility for their child and this can arranged by entering into a parental responsibility agreement.
Contact Order - A contact order sets out how often a child will see, speak or correspond to a specific person and may also include when and where any face to face meetings should take place.
Grandparents Rights - The breakdown of a relationship can be upsetting for all concerned. But for grandparents it can be even worse if contact with grandchildren is denied. The grandparents have no formal legal rights in relation to their grandchildren, but grandparents do have the right to apply to the court for a contact Order to see their grandchildren.
Abduction - Under the Child Abduction Act 1984, it is an offence for a person connected with a child under 16 to take or send him out of the UK without the appropriate consent. If your children have been abducted, we can assist in obtaining their return.
Child Maintenance - The payment of maintenance for children is now governed by the Child Support Agency and involves a fairly complex calculation. The parent with care can only seek the assistance of Court in respect of maintenance for the children if they wish to supplement a Child Support Agency assessment.
